Congratulations Gabe, puppets coming your way, just in time for your little lady to entertain the new babe!! Ellery loves hers, hope your family enjoys them too.
Seeing as Valentine’s Day is right around the corner I decided to do a theme and talk about different relationships this week. And today I want to highlight blog friends and do a little giveaway because I just enjoy ya’ll so much! Now that I am a stay at home mama I enjoy blogging and comments so much more than I used to. It’s my outlet to the World and one of the ways I connect with people, especially from far away! If you are looking for some blogs to check out I have a list of my favorites at the bottom of this page. If you don’t see yourself on the list and would like to be, just let me known! Some blogs I read daily seem to be meant for just friends and family so i don’t want to invade privacy. I really want to get to know more bloggers, so if you have a blog and want me to follow you please let me know, I definitely want to expand my blog friends this year.
As you may have seen I have started sewing and I thoroughly enjoy it. I saw these awesome little finger puppets on Pinterest and decided to make Ellery a set and while I did that I made an extra set to give away. If you’d like to enter to win just leave a comment telling me which one is your favorite. If you’d like a second entry you can do so by promoting the giveaway by posting on your blog or sharing it on Facebook, twitter or any other social media and leave that info in the comments. So you get a total of two entries. The giveaway closes at 5PM on Friday.
That was the question Andrew asked me earlier today. Not because he thinks it’s a particularly good idea or use of our money, but because today I got lucky. I never win anything. I used to enter blog giveaways quite a bit, but after not winning even one single time I gave up on it. Until yesterday. Suzie Davis is doing 31 days of giveaways on her blog and yesterday she was giving away her husbands latest book Enough. I have wanted this book since the day it was released, but seeing as we are on a spending freeze as we pay off the birth of our child I decided to wait. And then this morning I got the e-mail that I WON!! I am most definitely looking forward to reading it, this is the lifestyle Andrew and I strive for, but I’m interested to see if there are areas we could be doing better, because there is always room for growth!
I need to tell you about 2 of my favorite blogs. I’ve linked to them before, but it was a long time ago and I have different followers since then. Rose a la mode and good life for less. These ladies are GENEROUS, they love to give stuff away and each month they host something called the Luxe Lotto. It’s always fantastic stuff, but this month it’s stuff that I REALLY would love to have. I want the kindle, necklace, and clutch, but I would absolutely adore the beautiful bowls! CLICK HERE to check out the goods and enter to win. If Andrew won this he wouldn’t even have to do any Christmas shopping for me!
I’m slowly digging myself out of the hole I made of jobs. I got a bit buried in trying to do too many things and realized I wasn’t being excellent at any of them. As you know I hate the idea of having just one full time job, but I went way to the other side of crazy with having 5 part time jobs. This past weekend I completed 2 weddings (1 real, 1 silk) and now I have ONE wedding left on my schedule this year in October. I call it 3.5 jobs because I have almost finished the challenging part of the flowers (the planning) and once that is complete I’ll coast for a month or so till I order the flowers and then work hard one weekend and then I’ll be down to 3 jobs(or a lot less depending on the Andrew job situation). This week I officially started back at Bella working 20 hours a week, prior to this I worked on an as needed basis. Once again if you haven’t stopped into Bella you really should it’s quite the destination for Champaign, located on Neil near the corner of Kirby. Oh and one more thing, I finished up my fashion challenge with a giveaway, be sure to enter if you want to win a litte something!
Hope you are enjoying the day, we have had a lazy afternoon which is awesome. I just finished ordering stuff from Crate and Barrel and I can’t wait to receive it in the mail when I get home. We have broken a few plates from our dishes so it’s reorders and of course a few little extra nice things 🙂
So the winner of the Christmassy item is ELLEN!! Hey Ellen contact me at Lauracampbell2008@gmail.com to let me know how I can get something to you!
Have a WONDERFUL and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Sorry for the incredibly infrequent posts this month. December is a crazy busy month for most people, but for us it has been an opportunity for us to relax, catch up on life and enjoy each others company and the company of friends we don’t typically see. My goal was to have our Christmas cards out by December 1st. We were close, they were all written and addressed, but we wanted to get our Christmas letter finished before we sent them out. I think we sent them out the 8th…not bad. I wanted to have our presents wrapped and under the tree by the first week of December and once again we were close, besides a few of our gifts that we were waiting on in the mail and a couple stocking stuffers, we had our tree up and gifts under it by the 1st. It felt good! Another thing I have done with pretty much every guest is ask them what their favorite holiday tradition is. Andrew and I are trying to form traditions over the next few years before we have kiddos and so I like to get input from everyone. This is where you come in!
PLEASE post a comment telling me what your favorite Holiday Tradition is. If you post your comment by December 21st you will be entered to win something Christmassy. I would tell you what it is, but some of you might think you don’t need it and therefore will not post a comment and I NEED TO KNOW what traditions you have so that Andrew and I can copy you! Winner will be drawn on December 21st at 10 PM.
Laura (and Andrew too)
And I didn’t win! Oh well, better luck next time. Thank you for the 84 votes!! I must say it wasn’t bad for my first shot at a fashion contest. I really appreciate all of you who tried to win me some jeans. It was fun to talk to all the people that voted several times by using all 3 computers in their house, their BB, their husband’s Iphone, and their work computer. Andrew got everyone, including the guys, in his lab to vote for me…thanks love! My father sent an e-mail to the women in his office which I thought was super nice, and my mom even offered to call her friends and get them to vote, I asked her not to. I think it’s cool that my friends rallied around me and some even posted a link to their blogs to try to get me more votes…so sweet. I feel really loved, even if I didn’t win the jeans. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
I am #20 on Sensibly styled. Get over and vote (for any of them, but especially #20) by Monday at 7:00 AM! I’d appreciate your vote, I’ve been really good about not spending money on clothes this year and a new pair of jeans would be much appreciated! Thanks for following our blog, our numbers are up this month 🙂 Makes me feel loved!
So starting today there is a giveaway going on at Sensiblystyled.com. This is a fashion blog that highlights modest fashion for women. I am super excited because they had their readers put together outfits based on Down East Basics jeans. I entered to win and would appreciate your vote! Below are the pieces I put together. Please head on over and VOTE!!! Alright and in all fairness if mine is not your favorite, feel no obligation to choose it!
