Capsule Wardrobing

Un-Fancy Capsule Wardrobe

Since giving up my normal clothes about 6 months ago (at least my pants) when I started growing with this pregnancy I have become interested in this idea of creating a wardrobe I really like that has much fewer pieces.  It has become much easier to get dressed knowing that I only have a couple dresses that fit and having 4 or 5 pairs of pants, 1 pair of leggings, 2 maxi skirts, 2 shorter skirts and maybe 15 tops.  I have definitely found myself needing to do laundry more often, but having a small closet has been pretty nice.  I’m definitely ready to get back to some of my “normal” clothes and I’ve started exploring fashion and what I might need as I transition back into non-maternity clothing.

I stumbled upon this blog a couple weeks ago through a recommendation from another blog I follow and I am now a little obsessed.  The blog is called Un-Fancy and it’s all about creating what she calls a capsule wardrobe.  You then have 4 capsules Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall and each capsule has 37 pieces including shoes, but not including accessories.  She has a pretty hefty budget per capsule, but I’m confident this could be modified to fit whatever budget you have for clothing or even just working with what you have.  As I build a post baby wardrobe I’m definitely planning to adopt this method and create a well curated fall capsule wardrobe which will help me not buy too many things in this awkward transition time and also hopefully help me be inspired to get dressed *most* days.  If this is something you are interested in I HIGHLY recommend checking out her blog.  If you want to know more about how to create a capsule wardrobe just click on the picture at the top and it will direct you to her page where she explains all about it.

One Dress, Four Ways

I recently started following more fashion blogs. In an attempt to dress more like I did pre-baby I thought I would spend a little time each week browsing blogs, staying up on trends and gathering inspiration. I stumbled upon putting me together through Pinterest and I really like her blog a lot. She is having a link party today and challenging people to style one article of clothing multiple ways. I decided to take the dress I bought to wear on our anniversary this year and challenge myself to style it for all 4 seasons. I honestly was and still am iffy on whether or not I really love the dress, but it was cheap and white so I went for it. Turns out I like it tons more for winter than I did for summer. I apologize for the picture quality, these were taken by my love, in the corner of our living room, on the iPad, as quickly as possible before little missy got up from nap. I have a whole new appreciation for the fashion bloggers who have beautiful professional quality photographs everyday…I think I’ll stick to word blogging with pictures thrown in here and there.

Hot, I mean hot pink

Today I got an e-mail from the LOFT telling me that all their sale merchandise was 60% off. Since having a baby I have a limited number of shorts that fit and for some reason I have been wanting to wear shorts everyday. So I ran into LOFT with my little lady today and snagged a couple pairs. One of which was hot pink, and I mean neon, there is no filter on this photo and this is what they look like.

When I saw them I just knew I had to have them. When I got home I thought I’d go through my closet and put together a few outfits. Some of you have asked me for suggestions on mom style so I put together four options. I looked a hot mess so as much as I hate pictures with people’s heads cut off it was really my only feasible option if I was going to post them.
