Thanksgiving Day was lovely. We hung out in the kitchen most of the day. Andrew and I took a walk with Hudson in the beautiful weather. My Sister in law did a stellar job making our feast. After dinner we danced to the soundtrack of glee…well a few of the songs at least. Once Hudson, Amanda and Bryan went to bed around 7:45 (they were really tired) we looked up movie times and decided to go to the Blind Side (the new Sandra Bullock movie). It was VERY GOOD, totally lived up/exceeded my expectations. After the movie as we were walking out I mentioned I wasn’t feeling well, I didn’t think much of it because I’ve been naseous off and on for the last week or two. We got home and my entire body ached, I figured I was just tired and crawled into bed as quickly as I could. I woke up at 2:30 feeling absolutely horrible then(it’s going to get a little graphic) the vomitting began 🙂 and it contiunued until 5:00 AM and then guess what?? As soon as I quit throwing up Andrew began and he continued his puke fest until 3:00PM. We stayed home watching movies all day and slept on and off. We were defintely ready for bed when we finally turned in for the night at 11:00. It was quite a horrible day. So much for a vacation, oh well, I guess if I had to be sick I couldn’t have picked a better friend to be sick with!
I bet you didn’t know that one of the things that brought me delight when we first got married was finding out that Andrew had a tape dispenser…like an actual office tape dispenser. I had never had one of those, and well, I think they are awesome. I loved the fact that as a bachelor Andrew found it necessary to have one of these. My love grew for him the day I found this in our office supply box…it’s the little things in life!
Here we go, today we will pile in the van, Dad, Andrew, Lennox and I and begin our 16 hour trip to visit our family in Texas. I am so excited! I’m sorta freaking out that most of the things I wanted to do to prepare for our trip didn’t get done, but I’m gonna get over it and have a great time anyway! I think it’ll be really hard to resist the urge to drive straight through the night. Once we get going we just can’t stand to wait to get there, but I’m sure we will stop and sleep…Arkansas is very scary at night with all the deer so we need to be safe and stay in our hotel room..Dad found one that allowed dogs (Score). So at 7:00 PM I’ll finish work and we’ll be off! I’d like to say that I will post daily about our trip, but I know myself better than that, so I’ll try to at least post when we get home. If I don’t post before T-Day I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving…be safe…don’t eat too much… and remember to take a nap. Love you all, thanks for following our random babbling about life!
This is just a post to tell you about the best place to get ink! It is on Mattis Ave, right past Kirby. I have used this place several times in the past few months and have really liked it! The owner waited on me the other day and because I came in to get a recycled ink cartridge and they were out, he gave me the new one for the price of the recycled one (they are 1/2 price of the new kind). You can take all your old ink cartridges in there too and they will recycle them for you. Talk about an easy way to be green AND save green. Here is a link to directions and an explanation of the business. I hope I posted this in time for you to get your ink before you print your Christmas letters! Happy Saturday!
This is what our smoke detector screams every time it goes off. Believe me we’ve heard it, it goes off AT LEAST once per month and it always happens while we are cooking. Last night I came home from work and all I wanted was to be alone for a couple hours. I needed to decompress after a long day and a seemingly stressful remainder of the week ahead of me. I didn’t get even a minute alone. As soon as I walked in it was time to clean the apartment, eat dinner and make a snack before our small group arrived. After eating dinner I whipped up a bag of cookies and as they are cooking I realize something was totally messed up. The cookies didn’t puff up at all, instead they flattened out, covered the whole cookie sheet, and began spilling over the sides. You guessed it…smoke, pouring out of the oven! Our alarm starts going off, I start fanning the alarm, Andrew runs to open the windows and turn on the exhaust fan and we get it under control for about 30 seconds. I walk over to start making muffins because clearly the cookies aren’t going to work. Andrew takes the towel in preparation to fan, apparently at this point he heard a knock at the door, I didn’t and I couldn’t figure out why he would leave the scene. He goes to get the door, the alarm starts going off, I let it go, because I’m tired of dealing with it, the alarm is going, the first person in our group had arrived and I was still trying to make the stupid muffins. At this point I was done…I was REALLY close to getting in the car and leaving, but fear that I would get in an accident, I chose to stay, I figured an accident would have been par for my day. Group ended up being great. We laughed a lot and got to encourage each other, I’m glad I stayed after all. Have you ever had one of those days where you just wanted to crawl in bed after work and not wake up until the next morning?? That was mine yesterday. Here’s to a better day today…I hope!
We get to go visit our nephew, Hudson, for Thanksgiving. I’m just about to burst I’m so excited to give him a huge squeeze! I kind of hate to admit this, but I started packing today, that’s right, over a week before we leave I have already begun choosing my outfits. I want to make sure everything is totally prepared when the time comes to get in the car. I washed every piece of laundry I own so I could be that much more prepared to pack my bags. This may seem like overkill, but who wouldn’t be anxiously anticipating spending time with THIS little guy??
This weekend we had the privelege to have a photosession with Jenna, the one who took that wicked awesome maternity shot I posted a couple weeks ago. We had so much fun, our intention was to get a great shot for our Christmas card, but I’m pretty sure we came out of it with SO much more! Below I’ll give you one little sneak peek from our session yesterday.
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!
And I didn’t win! Oh well, better luck next time. Thank you for the 84 votes!! I must say it wasn’t bad for my first shot at a fashion contest. I really appreciate all of you who tried to win me some jeans. It was fun to talk to all the people that voted several times by using all 3 computers in their house, their BB, their husband’s Iphone, and their work computer. Andrew got everyone, including the guys, in his lab to vote for me…thanks love! My father sent an e-mail to the women in his office which I thought was super nice, and my mom even offered to call her friends and get them to vote, I asked her not to. I think it’s cool that my friends rallied around me and some even posted a link to their blogs to try to get me more votes…so sweet. I feel really loved, even if I didn’t win the jeans. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
If the weather is the effect and global warming is the cause then I must say I don’t mind this global warming thing all that much. We had an AWESOME weekend and I look forward to sharing more about it and posting a few pictures from our little day trip to Peoria. We could not have ordered better November weather. Keep it coming!!! Oh and about the global warming thing…I love the Earth and hope we can get the whole negative part about that cleared up soon, but if I’m going to live in the midwest any longer I do enjoy the warmer weather!
I am #20 on Sensibly styled. Get over and vote (for any of them, but especially #20) by Monday at 7:00 AM! I’d appreciate your vote, I’ve been really good about not spending money on clothes this year and a new pair of jeans would be much appreciated! Thanks for following our blog, our numbers are up this month 🙂 Makes me feel loved!
